Berta has been distilling grappa in these hills since 1947, and the still-house is the reason to come: you walk among the working alambicchi, then through a museum that follows one family's craft from a postwar idea to bottles now sold in seventy-odd countries. The tastings pair aged grappas — Tre Soli Tre from Nebbiolo, Roccanivo from Barbera, the Elisi and Villa Prato lines — with the amaretti di Mombaruzzo made just down the road.
Guided tours run in Italian, English and German, and you can book an experience through the distillery's site. It's a short drive from the town centre, and worth leaving time for the museum, which visitors tend to rate as highly as the grappa itself.
