Wine producers of Monferrato

Monferrato is Barbera country, from everyday Barbera d'Asti up to Nizza DOCG, but it also makes Ruché around Castagnole Monferrato, Grignolino and Freisa in the north, Moscato d'Asti around Canelli, and the sparkling wines aged in Canelli's underground cellars. Many of the wineries here are small family estates that open by appointment; each page says whether they offer tastings, in which languages, and how to book.
