The Barbera here has a name that tells you everything: Baciamisubito, kiss-me-now, a young red poured to be drunk while it's still laughing. Scamuzza works four labels off these hills — that Baciamisubito, the pure-Barbera Vigneto della Amorosa, the Grignolino they call Tumas, and Bricco San Tomaso, where Barbera meets a little Cabernet. Small runs, not supermarket volumes, and the regulars talk about the bottles the way they talk about a good harvest.

Turn up and it's the animals and the greenery you notice first, then the welcome — the sort of farm where the dog more or less counts as staff. They'll pour in Italian and English, and it's worth a call ahead on +39 328 546 3142 rather than trusting the posted hours. Come for the Baciamisubito; you'll leave arguing about which of the two Barberas you liked better.
