Ca 'd Tantin means "Costantino's house" in Piedmontese, after the great-grandfather who began working these vineyards on the Moasca road, east of Calosso, in the late 1800s. The Venturino family is now in its fourth generation here. They farm just under 4 hectares and have been certified organic since 2001, and some of the vines were planted by their grandfather more than 70 years ago. Reds ferment in wooden vats and every bottle has been hand-numbered since 2015. Barbera leads, from the everyday 'La Tosta' to the Superiore 'Milabute' and 'Tra i Confini'. 'Piotarùsa' is their Calosso DOC from the Gamba di Pernice grape. The list also has a Monferrato Nebbiolo, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a metodo classico, a Brachetto passito and a vermouth.
The cellar is open every day, but only by reservation. You can book through the website form or on WhatsApp. The menu runs from a quick €10 cellar tasting of two wines to a 90-minute €25 tasting with local products and three-hour sessions with a vineyard walk or a sunset tasting on the terrace. They also do vineyard picnics with food from a Canelli restaurant, and a helicopter flight over the vines can be added. During the Fiera del Rapulé, Ca 'd Tantin pours in the Crotin Il Duca Bianco.
