Domanda is one of Calosso's long-standing wine families. Massimo Domanda, born in 1881, owned vineyards around the village and started out making Moscato. His son Dino and grandson Mario added red wines and new whites from the 1970s on, and the estate is now run by his great-granddaughter Eleonora. There are about 20 hectares on Via Fea Rocca, south of the centre, and 12 of them are Moscato. The list is long. It runs from Moscato d'Asti 'Casera' and the Barbera d'Asti Superiore 'Crevacuore' to Dolcetto, Grignolino, Freisa, Nebbiolo d'Alba, Favorita, Chardonnay and a Timorasso from the Colli Tortonesi, plus a rosé spumante, the Moscato passito 'Amé' and a Moscato grape juice for children. Domanda also bottles Calosso DOC, the red from the rare local Gamba di Pernice grape.
The website doesn't list a tasting programme, but the cellar keeps shop hours, and Google reviewers describe unhurried tastings with the family, some of them in English. Phone ahead before you go. During the Fiera del Rapulé in October, Domanda pours its wines at the Cantina Comunale dei vini in the village.
