You can spot the tower from the Castel Rocchero road: a concrete cylinder finished in 1956, one of the last three wine towers left standing in Italy. Inside, 17,850 hectolitres sit at a steady cellar temperature and empty by gravity alone. La Torre has run as a cooperative since 1953 — around eighty growers between them farming 250 hectares across the Asti hills and the Acquese, which is a lot of Barbera, Moscato and Brachetto passing through one cantina.
They bottle right across the local map: Barbera d'Asti and Barbera del Monferrato, Dolcetto and Brachetto d'Acqui, Moscato d'Asti, and an Alta Langa spumante. Ask for the Del Preve Barbera or the Cusan Dolcetto by name. There's a sales point and a newer tasting hall, the Crystallina, opened in 2021 with vineyard views — open most days bar Monday morning, and the staff slip into English without fuss.
