Azienda agricola Roffredo Stefano

Stefano Roffredo took a mechanical-engineering degree from the Politecnico di Torino and a job up near Ferrari's Maranello, then in 2020 came back to the family land above Acqui Terme to make wine. The engineer never quite left him: his cellar on Strada Moirano runs on geothermal and photovoltaic systems, built for something close to zero energy draw. He calls the project Pigreco, and the wine he leads with is a red he named Mores.

It's early days and a small output — a couple of ratings on Vivino, a name most people in Asti haven't caught up with yet. But there's a point of view here you rarely get from a winery this young: quality of life over volume, the technology working for the vineyard rather than the other way round. One to watch on the Moirano road.
