Daffara & Grasso started in 1981, when Angelo and Roberto Daffara and Ermes Grasso pooled the vineyards and know-how of three Calosso grower families into one winery and bottling business on Via Agliano, north-east of the village. Their children now work alongside them. The catalogue is wide and covers more than Calosso's own wines. There's Moscato in several versions, Barbera d'Asti and a Nizza called 'Originis', and a Calosso DOC made entirely from Gamba di Pernice, part of it aged in wood. Further afield come a Barolo, a Roero Arneis, a Viognier called 'Senzaconfini' and Alta Langa sparklers, including a pas dosé riserva left 90 months on the lees. Easy-drinking Martinotti bubbles and bag-in-box wines round it out.
This is a working cellar with bottling lines rather than a hospitality estate. Visits and tastings are arranged on request on weekdays and Saturday mornings: book ahead by email and you get a tour of the cellar and a tasting with small snacks, free if you buy some bottles. During the Fiera del Rapulé, Daffara & Grasso pours alongside Bussi Piero in the Crotin Girio.
