Silvio Laiolo runs Piancanelli, a small premium winery in the hills around Canelli and Loazzolo. The range is broad — reds, whites, sweet and sparkling — led by the Barbera d'Asti 'Somnium' and the Chardonnay 'La Pietra', with Moscato d'Asti, the Bricchi Mej passito and a Brachetto rosé in the mix.
Visits and tastings run daily by reservation, advised for everyone and required for bigger groups. Silvio or his family usually guide them, with local products alongside the wines. Visitors describe an unusually warm, personal welcome and the run of many different wines, and the family looks after international guests in Italian, English, Spanish and German.
