Dario Bersano and his wife Giuseppina started this cantina in 1968, down in the Marziano hollow where the vines climb toward San Marzano Oliveto; their son Roberto runs it now. The house wine is Barbera, and plenty of it — above all the Ca' 'd Galdin, named for the family's old country nickname — but the cellar spreads wide, from Moscato d'Asti to Brachetto and Asti spumante across some thirty labels.
This is a proper working winery rather than a boutique, so a visit is unhurried and unpretentious: you taste, you talk grapes, you leave with a box in the boot. Weekday mornings are your best bet — they keep shop-and-cellar hours through the week and shut at the weekend, so plan around it.
