Antica Casa Vinicola Scarpa has stood in Nizza Monferrato since 1900, and it's one of the most traditional houses in Piedmont — known for wines it ages slowly and a cellar archive that goes back more than 150 years. The vineyards sit across the Nizza zone, the Langhe and Monferrato, and the wines run from the flagship Barbera d'Asti 'La Bogliona' through Nizza, Barolo and Barbaresco to indigenous rarities and a small line of Vermouth di Torino.
The cellar opens daily by appointment for guided visits and tastings in Italian and English. What people remember is the weight of history in the room and the age of the vintages they get poured.
