Esse Erre is the young estate in the village — Edoardo Rossi, Giulia Montina and Simone Serra took over an old wine company dating to the early 1900s and put their own initials on it. They keep it deliberately narrow: Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato first, all violet perfume and a soft, faintly tannic finish, then a Barbera d'Asti drawn from two vineyards of different ages, with a sweet dessert wine as the outlier. A short list, real focus.
They actually want you to visit, which not every small producer here does: guided tastings paired with local food, and walks out into the vines to see how the wine is grown and made, often led by Edoardo himself. English is fine. One thing to plan around — the cellar keeps to Saturdays, roughly ten to half past six, so make it a Saturday and email ahead (srssagricola@gmail.com) to be sure of a slot.
