Tenuta Montemagno is one of the larger estates in this corner of Monferrato, working around a hundred hectares of vineyards spread across Montemagno and the neighbouring communes of Altavilla, Viarigi and Casorzo. The clay-limestone hills, south-west facing and worked largely by hand, are planted to the classic Asti native grapes — Barbera above all, alongside the rare, perfumed Ruché of the Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, Grignolino, and Malvasia di Casorzo — plus Nebbiolo for a Barolo and white grapes such as Timorasso and Sauvignon. The range runs from the Barbera d'Asti Superiore Mysterium (a Tre Bicchieri winner in 2025) and the two Ruché labels, Nobilis and the late-harvest Invictus, to the Monferrato Bianco whites and a classic-method Brut.

The estate is built around a restored sixteenth-century property and pairs its cellar with a full hospitality side, the Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines, so a visit can combine wine with an overnight stay and the on-site restaurant. Guided cellar tours and tastings are offered by appointment — vertical flights of the estate's Barbera or horizontal tastings across the Monferrato range, in three, four or five glasses with local cold cuts and cheese — in Italian and English. Book through the tastings page or by phone.
