Nuova Cappelletta has farmed organic and biodynamic since 1984, long before either word was fashionable, and it's one of the very few Demeter-certified estates in the whole of Piedmont. That's the draw: honest Monferrato reds — Barbera, Freisa, Grignolino, Nebbiolo — plus a Cortese and a Chardonnay, made without shortcuts and, more often than not, without added sulfites. The vineyards sit on some of Vignale's better-placed slopes, and the wines carry that.
What people remember, though, is the welcome and the arithmetic. Tastings are unhurried and usually free with a purchase, the whole range walked through with real patience, and plenty of the bottles come in under €10 — a quality-to-price ratio that keeps buyers coming back for decades. Regular hours through the week, and the shop's open Sunday too, which is rare enough around here to be worth knowing.
