Contratto is one of Canelli's landmark sparkling-wine houses, celebrated for its dramatic 'cathedral' cellars dug into the hillside and for a range built on the traditional method — Alta Langa DOCG cuvées such as 'Bacco d'Oro' and 'For England', the De Miranda Asti Spumante, plus a line of vermouths and aperitivi that revives the house's classic mixology heritage.
Guided visits are offered by reservation and take in the historic underground cellars before a tasting. Visitors consistently praise the experience as lively and welcoming, with enthusiastic, story-telling guides working comfortably in Italian and English, generous pours of the sparkling wines and vermouth, and accompaniments of local salumi, cheese and breadsticks.
