Silvano Baldi and his son Gabriele work a small estate off Strada Garera, bottling the DOC and DOCG wines they also carry to producer markets — you'll find them at Mondovì most weeks. It's Barbera country: the Asti DOCG and its Superiore, alongside a Monferrato Nebbiolo and an Arneis-based Monferrato Bianco.
The cellar's more or less always open, but ring ahead — a tasting here comes with a small aperitivo out in the garden, not a production line. Family-run, unshowy, honest Barbera at a fair price. Punch the address in carefully, mind: the map sometimes sends you up the wrong dirt road.
