The Betti family sells much of its wine sfuso — straight from the tank — and the Grignolino they pour that way has a quiet local following. Giovanni Betti works the cellar on the hill above Mombaruzzo across two generations, with Barbera d'Asti, Dolcetto, Freisa and a sparkling Brachetto d'Acqui alongside it.
There's no shop counter here, so ring ahead (+39 0141 77164) before you drive up and someone will open the cantina and let you taste. Bring an empty demijohn if you want the bulk Grignolino — it's the way half the village still buys its wine.
