A proper comic-con set in one of Piedmont's great military monuments: the 18th-century Cittadella di Alessandria, a vast bastioned fortress across the Tanaro, becomes the stage for illustrators, publishers, gamers and cosplayers.

ALEcomics is Alessandria's yearly gathering for comics, cosplay, gaming and the wider pop-culture crowd, and its setting is half the appeal: it takes place inside the Cittadella di Alessandria, the enormous 18th-century star fort across the Tanaro — one of the best-preserved bastioned fortresses in Europe. For a weekend the ramparts and halls fill with exhibitor stalls, illustrators and publishers, gaming areas and cosplayers.

The programme mixes the commercial and the participatory: stands where you hunt for new titles, gadgets and artist prints; meet-and-greets with guests, content creators and voice actors; and workshops, panels and interactive activities pitched at every age, which makes it an easy day out with kids as well as fans.
