Asti International Film Festival
Five days of independent cinema in late November at the Sala Pastrone, next to Asti's Teatro Alfieri: more than a hundred documentaries, short films and first features in competition, from Italy and abroad, with screenings for schools, guests and an awards afternoon.
Why it's special
It's a small festival with a big programme: six competitive sections (Italian and international documentaries, short films and first features) plus animated shorts, mornings reserved for school audiences, and screenings with the directors and actors in the room.
Programme · 2026
16th edition, at the Sala Pastrone, with more than 100 films, documentaries and shorts in six sections. The full programme had not been published by late October 2026.
- Screenings are at the Sala Pastrone, the small cinema hall in the Teatro Alfieri building, in the centre of Asti.
- Weekday mornings are given over to school audiences; the public programme, guests and the awards are concentrated in the afternoons and the final weekend.

The Asti International Film Festival fills the Sala Pastrone, the cinema hall in the Teatro Alfieri building, for five days every late November. It's run by Sciarada Produzioni with the Circolo Cinematografico Vertigo and the support of the city of Asti, and it has grown into a competition of more than a hundred titles a year.
The films are split into six competitive sections: Italian and international documentaries, Italian and international short films, and first feature films under the title 'La prima cosa bella'. In 2025 a section for international animated shorts was added. Weekday mornings are reserved for schools, while afternoons and the final weekend bring screenings with directors and actors, workshops and the awards.
It's a good reason to spend a November evening in town: combine a screening with dinner in the centre, where the restaurants are serving bagna càuda for the Bagna Cauda Day weekends.
