Attraverso Festival a Calamandrana Alta
Each July the touring Attraverso Festival — a summer culture festival across the Langhe, Monferrato, Roero and Appennino Piemontese — brings two evening shows up to the UNESCO hill-borgo of Calamandrana Alta.
Why it's special
For two nights the medieval borgo of Calamandrana Alta turns into an open-air stage on the Barbera and Nizza DOCG hills, with well-known actors, philosophers and musicians. It's part of a festival that reaches some thirty comuni across the provinces of Asti, Alessandria and Cuneo.

Two evenings at Calamandrana Alta, both starting 21:00, entry €15. Tuesday 15 July: actress Antonella Questa performs her multi-award-winning show 'Vecchia sarai tu!', a comic and touching reflection on ageing and its representations. Wednesday 16 July: Matteo Saudino, the 'rock professor' of philosophy, presents 'Anime fragili' with singer-songwriter Giua, a dialogue between the thought of Plato and Aristotle and the uncertainties of the present. Part of the 11th edition of Attraverso Festival (July–September 2026).

Attraverso Festival tours the hills of Langhe, Monferrato, Roero and the Piedmontese Apennines each summer, mixing theatre, music, philosophy and storytelling across more than forty events in around thirty towns of the provinces of Asti, Alessandria and Cuneo. Every July it stops for a couple of evenings in the UNESCO hill-borgo of Calamandrana Alta, the medieval upper town above the Belbo valley.
The shows happen after dark in the old town's courtyards and squares, with vineyards of Barbera d'Asti and Nizza DOCG dropping away on every side — the setting does half the work. Tickets go through mailticket.it, and each summer the full programme lands on attraversofestival.it (past years have drawn names like Daniele Silvestri, Niccolò Fabi, Paolo Fresu, Elio, Marco Paolini and Carlo Lucarelli across its various venues).
