Concerto di Capodanno in Duomo
Casale's traditional New Year's Day concert: on the afternoon of 1 January the cathedral of Sant'Evasio hosts a free programme of sacred music on a Marian theme, with the bishop's Mass and Te Deum after it.
Why it's special
1 January is the Church's feast of Mary, Mother of God, and the World Day of Peace, and the concert is built around both. Choir, orchestra, organ and soloists fill the Romanesque Duomo of Sant'Evasio, and entry is free.

- The concert is at 16:00; in 2026 the bishop's solemn Mass with the Te Deum followed at 18:00.

In Casale Monferrato the new year starts with music in the cathedral. On the afternoon of 1 January the Concerto di Capodanno fills the Cattedrale di Sant'Evasio, the city's Romanesque Duomo, with a free programme planned with the bishop. It is built each year around the day's two themes, Mary, Mother of God, and the World Day of Peace.
The line-up changes every year. In 2025 it was Andrea Albertini's Marian programme based on Alda Merini's Magnificat. In 2026 it was organ and trumpet, then Vivaldi's Gloria with the Erato choir and orchestra from Novara. Readings for peace ran through it, and the afternoon ended at 18:00 with the bishop's solemn Mass and the Te Deum.
It's a calm way to spend New Year's Day in town, an hour of music in one of Piedmont's great churches after the night before.
