Dalle corti ai cortili del Monferrato
Three evenings of live music for the summer solstice in the private courtyards and gardens of Montiglio's old castle borgo, opened for the occasion: Italian songwriter tributes, pop, jazz and early music, with pay-what-you-like entry and very limited seats.
Why it's special
The concerts take place in courtyards you can't normally enter, the cortili of old houses such as Casa Ciravegna, Casa Belly and Casa Ferrando around Piazza Umberto I in the castle borgo, so the audience sits a few metres from the musicians. The programme leans towards tributes to great Italian voices, from Mia Martini and Franco Califano to Lucio Battisti and Milva.

'Dalle corti ai cortili del Monferrato', from the courts to the courtyards, is a small music festival that Montiglio holds for the summer solstice. For three evenings the owners of some of the old houses around Piazza Umberto I, in the castle borgo, open their courtyards and gardens. They become small stages with very limited seating.
The festival is organised by the cultural association Mov in Mus, whose president Marco Di Cianni is its artistic director and often plays piano on one of the nights, with the Pro Loco and the Comune. The programmes favour Italian song: tributes to Mia Martini and Franco Califano, Lucio Battisti and Milva, pop storytelling, swing and jazz, and in 2024 an evening of medieval music built around Boccaccio's Decameron. In 2025 the evenings also included guided visits and an art exhibition by the association L'Officina del Cuore.
Entry is a free offering, but the courtyards are small, so book ahead through the organisers or the Montiglio info point. Afterwards, the castle borgo, the sundials and the castle itself are a short stroll away. See what else there is in Montiglio Monferrato.
