Sergio Unia. Sculture e disegni. La donazione
An exhibition at Palazzo Alfieri of 26 plaster sculptures and 26 drawings by the Turin sculptor Sergio Unia, works from the 1980s to today that he donated to Asti's Fondazione Eugenio Guglielminetti.
Why it's special
The works had never been shown before and now belong to the foundation's permanent collection. Unia works from life, studying anatomy and experimenting with wax, plaster and clay, and dancers are a recurring subject. He also has a link to the city: in 2015 he painted the drape for the Palio di Asti.

Sergio Unia, born in 1943 in Roccaforte Mondovì and based in Turin, is known for figurative sculpture, much of it bronze, with dancers and the female figure as recurring subjects. For this show he gave the Fondazione Eugenio Guglielminetti in Asti 26 plaster sculptures and 26 drawings on paper, made between the 1980s and today, which had never been exhibited. They now stay in the foundation's collection.
The exhibition was held at Palazzo Alfieri, the house where the poet Vittorio Alfieri was born, which also contains the Alfieri museum. Unia painted the drape for the Palio di Asti in 2015. See what else is on in Asti.
