Festa del Vino del Monferrato
Casale's big harvest wine festival, spread over two September weekends in Piazza Castello — dozens of Pro Loco kitchens, thirty Monferrato producers pouring, and a pyromusical show over the castle.
Why it's special
It's the region's own vendemmia party at scale: 31 Pro Loco cooking under one market roof, thirty Monferrato winemakers pouring their new and cellar wines, and 6,500 seats filled across two weekends — the Monferrato eating and drinking together to close the harvest.
Programme · 2026
65th edition, in the Mercato Pavia in Piazza Castello and the Castello del Monferrato: 31 Pro Loco kitchens, 30 Monferrato wine producers, and 6,500 covered seats. Public voting decides "il Vino della Festa 2026". Programme still subject to change.
- The Pro Loco stands under the Mercato Pavia are the point — come hungry, bring cash, and pace yourself across the thirty producers.
- The Saturday-night pyromusical over Piazza Castello is the one to plan around; the daytime is the calmer, family stretch.
Late September in Casale belongs to the wine. The Festa del Vino del Monferrato takes over Piazza Castello and the Mercato Pavia for two weekends, and it runs at a scale the smaller village sagre don't reach — 31 Pro Loco firing up their kitchens under one roof, thirty Monferrato producers pouring at the tables, and six and a half thousand seats to fill.
You come for the food as much as the wine: each Pro Loco cooks its own corner of the Monferrato, so a plate here and a glass there is how you eat your way across the whole territory in an evening. Bring cash, the stands move quicker for it. The crowd votes through the weekend on "il Vino della Festa", and on the Saturday the piazza tips its head back for the pyromusical over the castle at half past eleven.
It closes the harvest the way the region likes to — at a long table, with a glass of the year's Barbera and half of Casale for company. Check the festival's own site for the current programme before you plan around a particular night.
