Late August, and Vignale throws itself a party for its patron. The Festa Patronale di San Bartolomeo is the village's own feast — no ticket, no stage built for outsiders, just the Pro Loco firing up the food stands in the square and local bands playing into the night.
This is where you eat the Monferrato you came for, cooked by the people who live here and served at long tables you'll end up sharing with strangers. Bring some cash — the sagra stands are quicker for it — and don't rush off; the music runs late and the piazza stays full.
St Bartholomew falls on 24 August, so the feast lands on the nearest weekend. Vignale usually warms up first with a smaller San Lorenzo feast in early August, then gives San Bartolomeo the bigger turn. Check the comune or Pro Loco listing for the current year's exact dates before you plan around it.
