Why it's special
It's the town keeping its own feast: a non-competitive run out through the historic centre and the vineyards, agnolotti served by the Pro Loco, and the Caccia altarpieces open to anyone who wanders in. The luna park stays put in Piazza Carlo Alberto for a fortnight around it.

The Stra-Moncalvo sets off through the old centre and out into the vineyards — a proper 6.5 km for the adults, a gentle kilometre for the children — and the Pro Loco sets up stands and a sit-down lunch built around agnolotti.
There's an agricultural market in Piazza Garibaldi, a guided walk into the hills, and the funfair that plants itself in Piazza Carlo Alberto for a couple of weeks. Slip into the churches while you're up here: this is Moncalvo, Guglielmo Caccia's town, and his and his daughter Orsola's altarpieces are the reason art historians make the climb.
