Festa patronale di Sant'Isidoro – Villanova d'Asti
Villanova d'Asti's patronal feast for Sant'Isidoro, protector of farmers, on the first weekend of September: three evenings of free concerts in Piazza Supponito with the Pro Loco's food stand, a Sunday of Mass, the blessing of the oxen and a hobby market, and a luna park in the market square.
Why it's special
It keeps the farming roots of a feast for the patron saint of farmers, with the blessing of the oxen and the auction of the 'Cappello' on the Sunday morning, and adds free tribute-band concerts in the main square every night and a luna park for the children.
Programme · 2026
Pro Loco food stand every evening, with dishes and cocktails.
- The concerts in Piazza Supponito start at 21:00 and are free; the Pro Loco's food stand and cocktail bar are open every evening.
- The luna park in the market square opens from the Friday; in 2026 Tuesday was the discount day on all the rides.
Sant'Isidoro, the farmer saint, is the patron of Villanova d'Asti, and his feast fills the first weekend of September. The Pro Loco cooks every evening in Piazza Supponito, where the stage hosts a free show each night: a DJ set on the Saturday and tribute bands on the Sunday and Monday.
The Sunday morning keeps the old rural rites, with Mass, the blessing of the oxen and the auction of the Cappello, accompanied by the town band and the majorettes. During the day there's a market of hobbyists, artisans and small producers and a show of historic cars and motorbikes.
A luna park sets up in the market square from the Friday and stays until the Tuesday. Villanova's other big dates are the spring Festa di Primavera, the summer Infiorata and the October hen fair, Elogio della Bionda.
