Festa Patronale di Sant'Anna
Castagnole Monferrato's patronal feast for Sant'Anna — a Pro Loco weekend in early August with a gastronomic stand of Monferrato cooking, live music and a Ruchè cycle tour through the vineyards.
Why it's special
The village's own summer feast, run by the Pro Loco at the Cantina Sociale: a few evenings of trestle-table dinners — antipasti, fried fish, grilled meat, dolci — washed down with the local Ruchè, plus dance bands and a Sunday-morning bike ride along the Strade del Ruchè. It's the community's feast, not a tourist show.
Programme · 2019
Three evenings at the Cantina Sociale di Castagnole Monferrato, organised by the Pro Loco, with a gastronomic stand (antipasti, primi, fried fish, grilled meat and dolci) and a bar each night.
- Held around the Cantina Sociale di Castagnole Monferrato; the gastronomic stand opens in the evening and there's live music each night.
- Don't confuse it with the separate 'Ruchè sotto le stelle' / Notte di Stelle e Ruché walk on the night of San Lorenzo (around 10 August) — that's a distinct event.
- Confirm the year's dates on the comune events page a few weeks ahead.
Every early August Castagnole Monferrato keeps its patronal feast for Sant'Anna, run by the local Pro Loco around the Cantina Sociale. It's the classic Monferrato paese-in-festa: a gastronomic stand of home cooking — antipasti, fried fish, grilled meat and dolci — a bar under the trees, and a live band each evening.
The Sunday opens with a cycle tour along the Strade del Ruchè, the vineyard roads that made this village famous for its DOCG Ruchè. This is the feast the village throws for itself; if you're staying nearby it's a genuine taste of local summer, and the wine in your glass is grown on the hills around you.
Don't confuse it with the separate Notte di Stelle e Ruché — the "Ruchè sotto le stelle" walk held on the night of San Lorenzo. Check the comune events page for the current year's dates.
