Festival Cacciano
Moncalvo's summer festival of dance and music under the stars, played free in the town's squares and courtyards and named for the local painter Guglielmo Caccia.
Why it's special
It's the whole hilltop turned into an open-air stage on summer nights — tango and street dance in Piazza Garibaldi, a gospel choir in one square, a swing septet in another — and every night is free. The name honours Guglielmo Caccia, the Moncalvo painter whose work still hangs in the town's churches.

Come summer, Moncalvo puts the show outdoors. For weeks between July and September its squares and courtyards fill on the warm nights — a tango company one evening, a street-dance battle the next, a gospel choir or a swing septet after that — and none of it costs a thing.
The festival takes its name from Guglielmo Caccia, called Il Moncalvo, the painter born here whose altarpieces you can still find in the town's churches. That's the through-line: art made in Moncalvo, celebrated in Moncalvo. In 2026 the programme spilled beyond its usual August home into July and on toward September, closing with a theatre piece for the 800th anniversary of St Francis.
