For one May weekend, dozens of Monferrato castles, historic houses, cellars and churches open at once across forty-plus comuni — food, wine and local producers, all under Paolo Massobrio's roving Golosaria banner.

It's the whole region opening its doors on the same weekend: over forty towns, castles you can't usually get into, producers at their own tables. You pick a corner of the Monferrato and graze it — Massobrio's format turned into a landscape.

20th edition, theme 'Il Gusto, la Casa, le Colline'. On one weekend the circuit opens dozens of castles, historic houses, cellars and churches across more than forty comuni of the provinces of Asti and Alessandria, with food, wine, local producers, guided tours, exhibitions and conferences. Conceived and directed by food-and-wine journalist Paolo Massobrio.

Once a year in May the Monferrato does something it can't do any other weekend: it opens everything at once. Golosaria tra i Castelli — the roving format built by the food writer Paolo Massobrio — throws open dozens of castles, historic houses, cellars and churches across more than forty comuni of the Asti and Alessandria hills, all on the same two days.
You can't see it all, and that's rather the point — you choose a cluster of towns and graze your way round them, into a baroque castle here, a producer's cellar there. At Castell'Alfero, for instance, the Castello dei Conti Amico opens alongside the huge Roseto della Sorpresa rose garden. Guided tours, tastings, exhibitions and talks fill in around the food.
