Casale's monthly organic market: on the third Saturday, Piazza Mazzini fills with growers of organic and biodiversity produce, artisans and, some months, workshops for children.
Why it's special
It's a market of small producers in the town's main square, under the Torre Civica. Organic and biodiversity produce sits alongside artisans' stalls, and the organisers sometimes add creative workshops for families in the afternoon.

- In July it's a morning-only market (8:30–13:00), and there's none in August.

Once a month the centre of Casale Monferrato hosts a farmers' market of a particular kind. Il Paniere ("the basket") is an organic and biodiversity market, held in Piazza Mazzini on the third Saturday of every month except August. White stalls go up around the equestrian statue, and growers and small producers sell what they make, with a few artisans among them.
It's a small, unhurried market rather than a fair, and some months there are creative workshops for children. On some editions there is a bookcrossing stand in the square's kiosk, run with the comune and the civic library.
It runs from 9:00 to 19:00, except in July, when it closes at 13:00. Piazza Mazzini is the heart of the old town, with the Torre Civica and the Duomo a few steps away, so it fits easily into a Saturday in Casale.
