Why it's special

It's one of the few markets in the area still held on a Sunday morning, with fish and anchovies, fruit and veg, local cheese, seeds and bulbs, and a rotisserie van.

Costigliole d'Asti keeps a market on Sunday mornings, which few towns around here still do. It's small, about a dozen stalls, on Via Roma and Piazza Luigi Medici del Vascello (formerly Piazza San Rocco). In the past it filled the whole area below the castle.

Expect fish and anchovies, fruit and vegetables, cheeses from a farm in Loazzolo, seeds and bulbs, clothing and household goods, and a rotisserie van selling roast chicken. In season, look for the square peppers grown at Motta, the frazione known for its vegetable gardens.

In 2021 the comune advertised nine vacant pitches on the Sunday market in Via Roma, two for food and seven for other goods.
