Monferrato Classic Festival

The Monferrato Classic Festival's Vignale strand: young-talent classical recitals on August Sundays at half past five, in the Chiesa dell'Addolorata.

Why it's special

A regional young-talent festival — over 80 musicians a year across the Monferrato — that gives Vignale its August Sundays: a solo piano in the coolest room in the village, one recital a week, no crowd.

A tip
  • Concerts start at 5.30pm — the Addolorata, not the main parish church.
  • Arrive a few minutes early to find it, and bring a layer; a stone church in August is the one cool spot in town.

On summer Sundays a piano gets carried into the Chiesa dell'Addolorata and Vignale hands its late afternoon over to whoever's playing. The Monferrato Classic Festival runs its young-talent recitals here through August — four Sundays, always at half past five, when the church is the coolest room in the village.

It's the regional festival's Vignale strand. Sabrina Lanzi's Musica e Pensiero puts more than eighty young musicians on stages across the Monferrato each year, and Vignale gets the August pianists. In 2026 that's Yuki Mihara opening with Haydn, Medtner, Takemitsu and Ravel, then Morgan Branzaglia, Vera Cecino and Pietro Freiburger on the Sundays that follow.

The Addolorata isn't the main parish church, so leave a few minutes to find it, and check the dates above before you drive up. A stone church in August does you a second favour: it's ten degrees cooler than the piazza outside.
