Monfrà Jazz Fest

Three June evenings of headline jazz under the concrete shell of the Paraboloide in Casale, with the festival spilling out across the Monferrato hills through the summer.

Why it's special

It brings names you'd expect in Umbria or Perugia to a restored parabolic-vault warehouse on the edge of Casale — Paolo Fresu, Danilo Rea, Fabrizio Bosso — three nights in a row, then keeps travelling the hills into September.

Programme · 2026

23–25 June 2026

9th edition, "Terre di Jazz: continenti sincopati e isole fuori rotta". Three main-concert evenings at the Paraboloide, Casale Monferrato, each at 9pm.

Tue 23 June
A Birchola (opening), then Israel Varela 5et, "Dos Fridas" (world premiere) with Rita Marcotulli on piano
Wed 24 June
Paolo Fresu (trumpet) & Daniele Di Bonaventura (bandoneon), "Terre d'aria, rotte sospese"; then Danilo Rea (piano) & Martux_m (electronics), "Sakamoto & Me"
Thu 25 June
Lauryyn (opening), then Javier Girotto & the Fabrizio Bosso Sextet, "Latin Mood / Desde Cuándo"
A tip
  • The three main nights are ticketed separately (roughly €20 each, more for the Fresu night) or as a three-evening pass — book ahead.
  • The Paraboloide is a former cement warehouse recently given back to the city; the festival then moves out to other Monferrato venues in August and September.

The Paraboloide is a strange, wonderful place to hear a trumpet: a 1930s cement warehouse in Casale Monferrato roofed with a single thin parabolic vault, left derelict for decades and only lately handed back to the city. For three June evenings the Monfrà Jazz Fest fills it with the kind of bill you'd travel for — the 2026 line-up ran Israel Varela and Rita Marcotulli, then Paolo Fresu with Daniele Di Bonaventura and Danilo Rea, then Fabrizio Bosso and Javier Girotto trading Latin heat.

Concerts start at nine, which is about right for the heat of a Monferrato June. Each night pairs a younger opener with the headline set, and the Fresu evening is the one that sells first. Buy tickets per night or take the three-evening pass.

It doesn't stop in Casale, either. The 9th edition carried the festival out into the hills through August and September — check the current programme at monjazzfest.it for where it lands next. Dates above.
