Echi di un mondo perduto: Floriana Porta at the Museo Paleontologico
About thirty watercolours by the Turin painter Floriana Porta, shown among the fossils of Asti's Paleontological Museum: women's portraits, ferns and the long-vanished sea that once covered the Astigiano.
Why it's special
The show puts art and natural history side by side. Porta's works on paper, in indigo blues and rust reds, take their cue from the Mare Padano, the ancient sea whose whales and shells are the museum's main collection, and some come with her own poems and a soundtrack inspired by one of them.

Floriana Porta is a painter from Turin, and in 2026 she brought about thirty watercolours to the Museo Paleontologico Territoriale dell'Astigiano in Palazzo del Michelerio. Her works on paper mix portraits of women, ferns and other plants, and the Mare Padano, the ancient sea that once covered this part of Piedmont and left behind the fossil whales and shells the museum is known for.
The colours are mostly indigo blue and rust red. Some of the pictures are paired with her own poems, and the soundtrack, Gae Capitano's 'Balene perdute nel tempo' ('Whales lost in time'), is inspired by one of them. The ticket includes the museum's own collections. See what else is on in Asti.
