Sapori d'Autunno a Viarigi
The Pro Loco of Viarigi's autumn Sunday: a set lunch of Monferrato autumn dishes, from baked polenta with gorgonzola and walnuts to peppers in bagna cauda and bollito misto, followed by a big chestnut roast with vin brulé in the afternoon.
Why it's special
A proper village lunch at a fixed price, cooked by the volunteers of a Pro Loco that turned 60 in 2026, in a hilltop village between Asti and Casale. The afternoon chestnut roast is open to everyone, lunch or not.

Viarigi is a small hill village in the Monferrato between Asti and Casale, and Sapori d'Autunno is its Pro Loco's autumn Sunday. Lunch is a fixed menu of the season's dishes, served at the Pro Loco's hall in Via Roma: a salad of seasonal mushrooms, baked polenta with gorgonzola and walnuts, peppers dipped in bagna cauda, small lasagne in broth and a generous bollito misto with green bagnetto, then dessert.
In the afternoon the Gran Castagnata takes over: roasting pans of chestnuts, handled by a team of chestnut roasters from Castellazzo Bormida, and mugs of vin brulé. In summer and early autumn the village also hosts an exhibition of old board games.
