Forty-odd seasons in (the 43rd in 2026), this is a living piece of Piedmontese: broad comedies played in the regional language by dialect companies from the provinces of Turin, Cuneo and Asti, in the Teatro Civico, a proper small-town playhouse on Piazza Garibaldi.

Every October the Teatro Civico in Moncalvo gives four Saturday nights to comedy in Piedmontese. The Stagione di Teatro in Lingua Piemontese is now past its fortieth season. Dialect companies come in from the provinces of Turin, Cuneo and Asti with broad comedies (a lawyer of lost causes one year, a meddling mother-in-law the next), and the town turns up to laugh at them.
The theatre sits on Piazza Garibaldi in the Centro civico Gen. Carlo Montanari, and curtain-up is at nine. If you don't speak the language you'll still follow most of it, because these plays run on situations and timing. In late October one evening doubles as the curtain-raiser for the Fiera del Tartufo, so you can make a weekend of it.
