Un Albero per Molare
Molare's pre-Christmas village festa on a mid-December Saturday afternoon: Christmas trees decorated by the local schoolchildren are shown on the parish church steps, followed by games, entertainment and a merenda for everyone in Piazza Marconi.
Why it's special
It's the village's own start to Christmas, nearly twenty years running: the trees on the church steps are dressed by the pupils of the local school, and the afternoon is a gathering for the whole community rather than a market.
Programme · 2025
19th edition, organised by the Oratorio Giovanni XXIII.
- It starts at 15:00 in Piazza Marconi; the decorated trees stand on the sagrato of the parish church.
- A small, local afternoon — come with children.
A week or two before Christmas, Molare gathers in Piazza Marconi for Un Albero per Molare, the village's traditional pre-Christmas festa. The parish Oratorio Giovanni XXIII sets out a row of Christmas trees on the church steps, each one decorated by the children of the local school, and presents them one Saturday afternoon. Then come games, entertainment and a merenda for everyone who turns up.
It's a small community occasion, now nearly twenty editions old. In the same corner of the Orba valley, the hamlet of Battagliosi holds its castagnata in October.
