Canelli's early-September drinks weekend — Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Zoppa fill with cocktail and beer stands, food trucks and a DJ, Friday and Saturday nights until two, Sunday from lunch.
Why it's special
Canelli takes its Asti and Alta Langa bubbles seriously the rest of the year; this is the town letting its hair down at summer's end, cocktails and craft beer under the arcades with the Caffè Roma crowd running the bar.

- The Friday and Saturday sessions run 19:00 to 2:00 and are a proper drinks night with a DJ; Sunday opens at noon and is the gentler slot, when the kids' entertainment makes most sense.
- Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Zoppa close to traffic — leave the car outside the centre.
By September the harvest is close and Canelli, which spends the summer being earnest about its Asti and Alta Langa, throws a drinks party instead. The Cocktail Wine & Beer Summer Fest takes over Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Zoppa for a long weekend — cocktail and beer stands, food trucks, a DJ working the square — run in collaboration with Caffè Roma, the bar on Piazza della Repubblica that knows its way around a Negroni.
The rhythm is worth knowing before you go. Friday and Saturday are the late nights, seven in the evening until two, and they're squarely a grown-up crowd. Sunday shifts earlier — doors at noon, closing at one — and that's when the kids' entertainment fits, if you're bringing the family for the daytime rather than the DJ.
