Festa Contadina at La Viranda
A farmers' festival at the La Viranda agriturismo — an afternoon debate on peasant viticulture, then producer stands, a shared dinner on the aia, and music into the night.
Why it's special
This is wine from the other side of the label: small growers talking tariffs and agroecology, then feeding you at long tables in the yard. Not a tasting laid on for tourists — a working conversation you're welcome to join, with dinner after.
Programme · 2026
The second edition of the Associazione Rurale Italiana's peasant festival, held at the La Viranda agriturismo (Regione Corte 69), part of a series of festivals running across Italy through December 2026.
- It's at [La Viranda](/villages/san-marzano-oliveto) in Regione Corte 69 — the talk starts at 3pm, dinner at 8.
- Book ahead on 0141 856571.
The wine talk you'll hear most in these hills is about which hillside makes the best Barbera. This one's different. Once a year the Associazione Rurale Italiana brings its Festa Contadina to La Viranda, the agriturismo out in Regione Corte, and the afternoon opens with a straight-faced debate — in 2026, peasant viticulture caught between tariffs and agroindustry.
Then the practical part. From 5pm there are producer stands with fresh local food, dinner goes down on the aia — the old threshing yard — at 8, and the music starts around 9. It's the second edition, one stop in a run of these festivals ARI is holding across Italy through 2026, co-funded by an EU citizens' project.
Book the dinner ahead on 0141 856571. Come for the argument, stay for the table — the order most things happen in around here.
