In mid-August Castelnuovo Don Bosco keeps the feast of San Rocco, the saint invoked against plague, with three evenings organised by its Pro Loco along Viale Regina Margherita and in Piazza Dante.
The food comes as a "piola piemontese", a nod to the old Piedmontese osterie, with local wine and traditional dishes, and on the 15th and 16th as a seafood supper. After dinner there's dancing: Occitan folk with the Sonadors, then liscio and ballroom. On Ferragosto itself the Mercatino dell'Antico fills the avenue from dawn to dusk, there's Mass for the Assumption at the Madonna del Castello and an evening procession, and on the Sunday Mass is said in the little chapel of San Rocco.
