Fiera del Tartufo "Trifola d'Or" di Murisengo

Murisengo's great white-truffle fair fills the village at the foot of its thousand-year-old castle over two Sundays in November — a market of white (and black) truffles with over a hundred food, wine and craft producers, the Trifola d'Or awards, and autumn truffle menus in the local restaurants.

Why it's special

One of Piedmont's most long-established and genuine white-truffle fairs — held every November since the late 1960s, national since 2005 and now carrying an international title — where the Centro Nazionale Studi del Tartufo di Alba checks every truffle on the stalls.

A tip
  • It runs on the two Sundays, roughly 8:00–18:00, in the village centre below the castle.
  • Book an autumn truffle menu in a Murisengo restaurant to pair the market with a proper sit-down meal.
  • Programme and dates each year at fieradeltartufo.net.

Murisengo wears its truffles well. For two Sundays every November the little Monferrato village, gathered under its thousand-year-old castle, turns its centre over to the white truffle — and to the trifolau who hunt it in the surrounding hills. Stalls run from early morning to dusk: white and black truffles weighed out by the hunters and merchants, and around a hundred producers of cheese, wine, honey and crafts filling the rest of the streets.

What keeps it honest is the Centro Nazionale Studi del Tartufo di Alba, which checks every truffle offered for sale — so what you smell on the stall is what you take home. Around the market the fair hands out its Trifola d'Or awards, runs tasting seminars and guided walks out into the truffle ground, and the restaurants of Murisengo put autumn truffle menus on their tables.

The fair has run every November since 1967, grew into a national event in 2005, and now carries an international title. Each year's two Sundays and full programme are published on the official fair site — this year's are above.
