Why it's special

Trisobbio is a hilltop village of the Alto Monferrato Ovadese crowned by its castle, and for one Sunday the trifolai set up around the castle walls while wineries, local and from further afield, pour along the streets of the old borgo. It falls a couple of weeks before Ovada's own truffle fair, Vi.Ta.

• Entry to the fair costs €1.
• Don't drive up into the village: a free shuttle runs from the Trisobbio swimming pools.
• At the info point you can book a guided tasting and buy the fair's official glass for tasting the wines.
• The castle tower can be climbed by the stairs or the internal lift, 10:00–12:00 and 15:00–17:30.
• In bad weather the fair can move to the following Sunday (in 2025 the back-up date was 2 November).

Trisobbio is a hill village in the Ovadese, between Ovada and Acqui, gathered around its castle. On a Sunday at the end of October it holds its Fiera Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco, a couple of weeks ahead of the truffle fairs of Ovada and Acqui.

The fair has three parts. The truffle hunters set up around the castle along Via Cavour, with the white truffles of the local woods for sale and an award for the best ones. Wine producers, from the Ovadese and guests from elsewhere, line the lanes of the medieval village, and you taste with the fair's official glass, or join a guided tasting booked at the info point. The rest of the streets are given over to stalls of typical produce and food stops. The castle tower is open to climb for the view over the hills.

Entry is €1 and there's a free shuttle up from the swimming pools. The nearest village we cover is Molare, and two weeks later the season moves on to Ovada for Vi.Ta – Vino e Tartufi.
