Vi.Ta — Ovada Vino e Tartufi
Ovada's regional truffle and wine fair in November: truffle hunters selling white truffles under a big marquee in Piazza Assunta, Ovada DOCG producers pouring along the streets of the old town, a farmers' market, local dishes from the Pro Loco kitchens and truffle-dog demonstrations, run by the Pro Loco di Ovada.
Why it's special
Vi.Ta puts the two things the Ovadese is known for, white truffles from its woods and Dolcetto-based Ovada DOCG from its hills, into one walk through the old town. You buy a glass and pouch at the entrance and taste your way from producer to producer, while the villages around cook their own specialities in Piazza Garibaldi, among them the fiazein of Battagliosi and the polenta of Molare.

- Sunday is the main day, with the truffle marquee in Piazza Assunta from the morning and the best-truffle award before lunch.
- To taste the wines you buy the glass with its pouch at the infopoints on Via Cairoli or Via San Paolo.
- The FAI opens the church of Santa Maria Sedes Sapientiae for the day.
- Ovada has a station on the Acqui–Genoa and Alessandria lines, and Molare is ten minutes away by car.
Ovada is the small town at the meeting of the Orba and Stura rivers that gives its name to the Ovadese and to the Ovada DOCG, the red wine made from Dolcetto on the hills around it, a few minutes down the road from Molare. Each November its Pro Loco turns the old town into Vi.Ta, short for Vino e Tartufi, a regional fair of wine and truffles.
The heart of it is Sunday. About thirty truffle hunters sell white truffles under a marquee in Piazza Assunta, by the parish church, and in the morning the best truffle gets its prize. Along Via Cairoli and Via San Paolo wine producers pour Ovada DOCG and the area's other wines for anyone with the fair's glass and pouch, while Piazza Garibaldi becomes 'Il Territorio in Cucina', where village Pro Locos and local cooks serve their specialities: the fried fiazein of Battagliosi (see the Sagra del Fiazein), Molare's polenta, focaccini from Costa d'Ovada and truffle ravioli. There are truffle-dog demonstrations, a market of seasonal produce and vintage tractors along Via Torino, and a children's area.
In 2026 the fair added a Saturday as well, with a farmers' market, a wine market under the Loggia di San Sebastiano and dinners at the Enoteca Regionale di Ovada e del Monferrato. The dates change each year, so check VisitOvada in October.
