Fuma C'Anduma — Camminata Enogastronomica
A gentle four-kilometre walk through Canelli's vineyards with four food stops along the way — Piedmontese dishes matched to Barbera and Moscato, and dancing after dark.
Why it's special
It's the local version of a wine tour: no minibus, just an evening on foot through the vines with a plate and a glass at every stop, and part of what you pay goes to the town's volunteers.
Programme · 2026
Fifth edition. About 4 km through Canelli's hills and vineyards with four gastronomic stations of traditional Piedmontese dishes paired with local Barbera and Moscato, followed by evening entertainment with country dancing. Reduced rates for children part of the proceeds support local volunteer groups.
- Roughly 4 km on farm tracks, so wear real shoes.
- Under-10s go free and 11–16s pay a reduced rate, which makes it an easy one with kids.
- Book ahead through the organisers (Nadia 347 6830151 or Lucia 331 2654361) — the stops are catered and places are limited.
The name is dialect for "let's smoke, let's go" — the sort of thing you say to get a reluctant group moving — and that's about the pace of it. You set off from Canelli on a June evening and walk maybe four kilometres through the vineyards, except the walk keeps stopping: four times, for a plate of something Piedmontese and a glass of Barbera or Moscato poured by the people who grow it.
It's run by local volunteers and a slice of the ticket goes back to them, so the whole thing has the feel of a village doing something for itself and letting you tag along. By the time you're back down the country dancing has usually started.
Kids under ten come free. Book ahead — the stops are catered and numbers are capped. Dates above.
