Golosaria a Grazzano Badoglio
For the Golosaria weekend in May, Grazzano opens Aleramo's abbey and pours its six wineries — a masterclass on the white wines of the tufo, tamburello in the square, and the Zuppa dell'Abate handed out on the church steps.
Why it's special
This is Grazzano's own corner of the region-wide Golosaria: you get inside the abbey of Aleramo — the marquis's tomb and the Romanesque cloister — then taste the village's six producers before the abbot's soup is ladled out on the church steps at five. Few weekends open this door.
Programme · 2026
Grazzano's programme within Golosaria tra i Castelli del Monferrato 2026 (theme 'Il Gusto, la Casa, le Colline').
- The Sunday masterclass (€20) needs booking; the church and cloister tours, the walk from Piazza Cotti, and the Zuppa dell'Abate on the steps are free to join.
- Come Sunday afternoon if you want the soup and the tamburello match; come Saturday for the fritters and the aperitivo.
Once a year the region-wide Golosaria weekend reaches Grazzano Badoglio, and the village does the thing it can't do most days: it opens the abbey. Aleramo founded it here in 960; the parish church of Santi Vittore e Corona keeps his tomb and a Romanesque cloister, and on the Golosaria Sunday you can walk both with a guide, for nothing.
The rest is proper village hospitality. Saturday afternoon there are apple fritters down Via Aleramo and an aperitivo up at the school with the duo Cui d'na vota. Sunday morning Marco Gatti runs a masterclass on 'I Bianchi del Tufo', pouring the six wineries that work these hills — Sulin, Monti, Rappellino, Capretto, Santa Caterina and Natta. Then the Badoglio museum opens, there's a tamburello match in the afternoon, and at five the Zuppa dell'Abate — the abbot's soup — goes out on the church steps until it runs out.
Book the masterclass ahead; the tours, the walk and the soup you just turn up for. This year's dates and running order are above.
