Passeggiando per Montiglio Monferrato — Golosaria food walk
Montiglio's own contribution to the Golosaria weekend in May: a self-guided walk of about 8 km through the hills from Montiglio to Rinco with food stops cooked by the Pro Loco and the frazione clubs, plus a Saturday supper, a Sunday lunch, a local producers' market, open Romanesque churches and small exhibitions around the village.
Why it's special
Each stop is cooked by a different community: breakfast from the Montiglio Pro Loco at the old station, a mid-morning plate from the Pro Loco of Colcavagno, lunch from the circolo of Rinco and a last stop back in Montiglio from the Carboneri society. The menus carry Piedmontese dialect names, and you can walk back on the Montiglio stretch of the Cammino Monferrato Don Bosco.

- Booking is compulsory, by the Friday before (391 727 7165, infopointmontiglio@gmail.com).
- Register and buy the food carnet at the tourist office in Piazza Regina Margherita from 8:45; in 2026 it cost €20, €10 for children aged 6–10 and nothing for under-6s, with water included and wine extra.
- The route is about 8 km from Montiglio to Rinco; a free shuttle brings you back, with pick-up points along the way if you want to cut it short, or you can walk back on the Cammino Monferrato Don Bosco.
- The stops can also be reached by bike or by road.
Every May the Golosaria weekend, the Monferrato-wide festival of food, wine and castles, sends visitors out to dozens of villages. Montiglio's contribution is a walk. 'Passeggiando per Montiglio Monferrato' leads from the hilltop village down to the old railway station and out across the hills to the frazioni of Colcavagno and Rinco. Each stop serves a dish cooked by a different local group.
The Comune and the local associations organised a similar food walk 'between pievi and castles' in June 2022, and by 2026 'Passeggiando' had reached its 5th edition. That year the walk covered about 8 km from Montiglio to Rinco. You collect a food carnet in Piazza Regina Margherita and set off at your own pace. Breakfast at the station is the 'Culasiun dal macchinista', the engine driver's breakfast, from the Montiglio Pro Loco; the midday stop at Colcavagno comes from its Pro Loco; and lunch at Rinco, 'La pitansa dal Cunt', is cooked by the village circolo. A free shuttle brings walkers back, or you can return on foot along the Montiglio stretch of the Cammino Monferrato Don Bosco. Back in Montiglio the Carboneri society serves the last stop, 'Du fetti ad salam dus'.
The rest of the weekend fills out the programme. On Saturday evening there is a supper in the Pro Loco pavilion. On Sunday there is a lunch for non-walkers, a market of local producers, small exhibitions in the Municipio and the station goods shed, and guided visits to the frescoes of the Sant'Andrea chapel.
