Librando — Mercatino del Libro

A monthly book market under the arcades of Corso Bagni — Librando lays out stalls of second-hand and antiquarian books, prints and curiosities for browsers to pick through, one Sunday a month from spring to Christmas.

Why it's special

Acqui punches above its weight in Italian letters (it hosts the national Premio Acqui Storia), and Librando is the everyday version — a proper bibliophile's browse in the shade of Corso Bagni's porticoes, run by the SPAT traders' association.

A tip
  • It runs under the arcades of Corso Bagni, so it happens rain or shine.
  • Morning is best for the good finds; afterwards it's a short walk to Piazza della Bollente for the thermal spring and a coffee.
  • Info: SPAT, mercatino.spat@gmail.com.

Once a month a stretch of Corso Bagni turns into a book fair. Librando is Acqui's mercatino del libro — stalls of second-hand and antiquarian books, old prints, magazines and the sort of paper curiosities a browser can lose an hour to — laid out under the arcades so it goes ahead whatever the weather. It runs one Sunday a month (the second), from February through December, 9:00 to 19:00, organised by the SPAT traders' association.

It's a low-key fixture rather than a headline festival, but it fits Acqui: this is the same town that hands out the national Premio Acqui Storia each autumn. Come in the morning while the good books are still on the tables, then it's a two-minute walk to La Bollente and a coffee under the porticoes. See Acqui Terme for what else is on.
