Luna Park di Primavera — Alessandria
Alessandria's spring funfair: a travelling luna park that sets up on Viale Milite Ignoto for about four weeks from late March to late April, through the Easter holidays.
Why it's special
It is the city's big spring funfair and runs for close to a month, long enough to cover Easter and the 25 April holiday, on the open ground of the former Piazza d'Armi on the edge of the centre.
Programme · 2026
The spring travelling luna park on Viale Milite Ignoto, open every day for the run.
- In 2023 the rides opened every day from 10:00, with Wednesday as the cut-price day.
- The operators list it under the name of the Fiera di San Giorgio, but the city's actual Fiera di San Giorgio is a one-day street fair in Piazza della Libertà in early May (3 May in 2026), after the luna park has left.
Every spring a travelling luna park sets up on Viale Milite Ignoto, the open ground of the former Piazza d'Armi on the edge of central Alessandria. It stays for about four weeks, from late March to late April, so it covers the Easter school holidays and the 25 April bank holiday.
The operators bill it under the name of the Fiera di San Giorgio, an old city fair instituted in 1525 under Francesco II Sforza, Duke of Milan. The fair itself is a one-day street market of food, household goods, plants and flowers in Piazza della Libertà in early May, so in 2026 the two didn't overlap: the rides had packed up a week before the fair stalls arrived.
The same ground has hosted autumn rides too: in 2022 the Oktoberfest held there (20 October to 1 November) came with a big luna park and a 35-metre Ferris wheel. For a neighbourhood funfair in October, see the Festa del Cristo.
