Nearly fifty years old and 300-plus stalls strong, it's a proper hunt — furniture, prints, silver, curios — sheltered under the iron-and-glass of the Mercato Pavia and spilling into Piazza Castello, right by the Castello del Monferrato.

The second Sunday of every month, the dealers take over Piazza Castello in Casale. This is one of the largest antiques markets in Italy — more than 300 stalls, nearly half a century of Sundays behind it — and it sets up under the iron and glass of the Mercato Pavia, the town's Liberty-era covered market, with more tables out in the square.
You'll find the full range: rustic Piedmontese furniture, old prints and frames, silver, linens, jewellery, the odd real find among a lot of honest bric-a-brac. It runs 8am to 5pm and it's free to walk in, and the earlier you get there the better — serious buyers are picking over the tables by half past eight.
It's a short walk from the Castello del Monferrato, so pair it with the old centre and a box of Krumiri for the road.
